How To Play An Awesome Guitar Solo - What's The Secret?

Every song you are likely to hear being played today will have some type of guitar solo within it and a few may be a little more memorable than others. If you are just learning how to play this instrument then at some point in the future you are going to want to learn how to play an awesome guitar solo just like your guitar hero. However, what you need to remember that this is something that is going to take time to achieve and don't expect it to happen overnight.

What you will soon discover is that it may many years before you can master the guitar and so play it well. However, after you have more ability in your playing then you need to dedicate even more time to playing it to go beyond your limits. But there are a number of things that you can do which will aid you in getting to the stage where you have found that you have learnt how to play an awesome guitar solo well, and we look at what these are below.

1. At some stage during their playing of a piece of a music many professional guitarists will play a solo piece at a very fast speed. For those who cannot play the guitar they will find this kind of playing very impressive. So if you want to be able to play an awesome guitar solo like your favorite guitarist you need to learn the right legato techniques and practice them. So you have to spend time on learning the 3 note per string scales along with the pentatonic ones.

2. It is crucial if you want to be able to play an awesome guitar solo you learn the finger tapping techniques that were pioneered by Eddie Van Halen. If you can learn to play 2, 4, 6 and 8 finger tapping techniques then this will bring your guitar playing to a whole new level. Also through learning 8 finger tapping the piece you play will sound more dramatic. But you need to learn to pay these techniques both on the upper and middle registers and this offers you the chance to combine them with each other. Another thing you need to do is learn to tap arpeggios as again this will give you more notes to incorporate into the piece that you are playing.

3. For you to be able to learn how to play an awesome guitar solo you have to learn how to shred and to do this requires you having a metronome. When purchasing this piece of equipment you have the choice of purchasing one that stands on its own from your local music store or from an online one, or you can download metronome software onto your PC instead. As soon as you have the metronome you need to start practicing a particular solo piece of music and increasing the speed as and when you feel comfortable. By the time you are shredding correctly you should be playing the 16th notes at around 200 beats per second.

As time passes your confidence in shredding the guitar will grow and you will find that not only can you play up and down the scales quickly but you can sweep the arpeggios and pentatontics scales fast as well. It is important that you need to find yourself a suitable book or online course that is able to teach you not just about diad's but also about arpeggios.

4. As soon as you feel more confident and comfortable with your guitar playing now is the time to step outside of your comfort zone and begin to experiment when playing a particular piece. If you do find yourself making some mistakes then don't be too concerned about this because they may actually be the right notes you are playing although they may not sound like it initially.

For you to be able to learn how to play an awesome guitar solo it is best if you stick to learning pieces of music that incorporate a very simple melody within them. Many of the pieces of music that you remember that incorporate a guitar solo in them will have the same melody running through them and it is this which makes them so memorable.
