How to Play Craps in Your Home With a Casino Feel

By Matthew Sagehouse

Perhaps, the most exhilarating table in a casino is the craps table. This high energy game of dice rolling and betting is enjoyed by many in casinos. Are you one of those? If so, you should know that there is an entire line of craps tables and supplies that can provide everything you need to have casino style craps games in your very own home.

The luxurious and fancy casino style craps table should be hard to duplicate, with the smooth shiny felt, fancy mirrors, and stylish pyramid rubber bumpers. These special features combined with the elegant wood work and padded rails make the task difficult but not impossible, since there are several options available with all of these features.

Another option you have, if you don't want a full size craps table, is a craps felt layout. These are available in a regular grade and a high grade felt. Both measure 6' x 3' and have a craps table layout printed on them. With either of these layouts you can place them over an existing table or even mount them to a piece of plywood.

A precision set of serialized dice is recommended for the optimum craps experience. These dice are produced to exacting standards and are perfectly balanced, with flush dots and uniform sharp edges. You can be sure that these dice are free from defects. If you are not so worried about the quality of your craps dice then you can purchase some regular play dice.

Before you can begin your game, you will still need some additional accessories. A dice stick, made from rattan, so it is strong yet flexible, is needed for the dealer to retrieve dice during play. A dice boat is useful for holding the dice at various times during the game. There are also various buttons that are crucial to the play of the game of craps.

When a particular player at the table wants to call off his bets, the off side of an On/Off button is used. When he is ready to resume his bets the button is flipped to the on side. The dealer uses a larger, On/Off puck, to indicate the current point and to indicate when the point is off which occurs in the first round of play. Both the On/Off button and the On/Off puck are available for you to use in your home.

For your players' bets, you will need the buy/lay button. On one side it says buy, indicating a bet by a player in which they are betting their chosen point will be rolled before a number seven is rolled. The other side says lay, which is a bet on a chosen point with the opposite intention; the player is betting that the number seven will be rolled before their chosen point.
