Wireless Headphones

By Gary Pearson

If you enjoy listening to music or television programs but need to keep the volume down, consider investing in a pair of wireless headphones. Wireless headphones allow you to listen to your favorite tunes or stay abreast of your favorite soap opera as you move around the house or yard. There is no cord to stretch out, get tangled up in, or drag around with you. It's a beautiful thing!

You will find a variety of wireless headphones in the marketplace costing from $9.99 to $149, depending on the features they may cost more. There are features like automatic tuning and surround sound which establish the price of wireless headphones.

When choosing wireless headphones, there are a few important factors to consider. These include:

You have to be connected to an infrared or a radio signal which is transmitted from a fundamental base station for the wireless headphones to work. iPod, CD player or television etc is plugged into the gadget which comes up with the sound.

Batteries are needed for the wireless headphones. It is a good idea to purchase rechargeable batteries if you are expected to use it more often as it is more economical. It is not just the cost but rechargeable batteries are good for the environment also. It is possible to recharge the headphone batteries at the main base station.

Sound quality seems to be one of the most important parameters on which these headphones are bought. The sound quality provided by these headphones will be better than the sound quality of the television or the radio. Some particular models of headphones also have surround sound option.

Another important factor to consider is comfort. If you plan on wearing wireless headphones for an extended period of time, consider investing in the larger headsets with plush earphones. Typically, plush wireless headphones are more comfortable than the smaller ones. However, they are hotter to wear. The smaller earphones are a better choice when using them while outdoors.

The wireless headphones you buy should also be based on the application you will use it for. You will be limited to the distance you can move in the house as infrared frequencies are not made to enter through walls. It will cause interference for plasma TVs if the wireless headsets have a frequency more than 95 KHz.

There are more chances of electronic interference with wireless headsets which use radio frequencies and as a result don't work properly in places where a number of electronic gadgets are used. On the other hand wireless headsets are not as restraining as the ones which make use of infrared frequencies that operate on radio frequencies with longer range.

One of the other aspects is the cost of the headphones. It is very easy to find headphones which are at 50$ or so. Though if you want all the goodies then you must be ready to spend more than 100$ easily.
