What about for kayaking? For the Wilderness Paddle we go to Indian Arm, Canada's southernmost glacial fjord. This 20 km (13m) long inlet extends from English Bay deep into the mountains on the North Shore behind Vancouver. Expect breathtaking mountain scenery and the typically calm waters associated with inlets. The Gulf Island trip takes you into the Georgia Strait, which separates Vancouver Island from the mainland. This is teaming with wildlife. Seals, river otters, bald eagles, and a myriad of shorebirds live here.

How difficult is kayaking? It is like riding a bike, but you must use your arms instead of your legs. If you are not active and/or do not weigh more that 100 to 110 lbs., then you may want to bring a friend who is more experienced or athletic and share a double kayak. Our whitewater kayaking safaris are for groups of experienced paddlers only.The most popular discipline at Fairfield Canoe Club is flatwater marathon kayaking, however you can also become involved in sprint kayaking, canoe polo and touring. FCC has a training sessions provided by club members on Sunday mornings between 10.0 am and noon for intermediate and experienced paddlers.No kayaking experience is required.
