Pink Acoustic Guitars

By Mellisa Jane Green

You might be a bit taken aback if your 'young daughter has been pleading with you to get a pink acoustic guitar. You probably associate guitars with moody teenage boys, not young girls who used to pretend to be princesses and play dress-up just a few years ago. You will probably think it best to buy an inexpensive guitar in case your little girl loses interest. However, before you let her give it up, you should try and encourage her to keep at it.

Nowadays it is a trend for young girls to want to become musicians. As parents, you may want to encourage this. The popular television show Hannah Montana which is about a young pop star has been one of the reasons behind this trend for young girls. For young ladies who would like to be stars, there are many pros and cons. As parents, you might perhaps wish to grab this temporary interest in a popular trend like the pink acoustic guitars, and make it a serious life-long interest for your daughter.

Girls today have to deal with so many pressures from society. There are pressures pertaining to body image, pressures from peers to become sexually active as well as, academic pressures at school. A creative outlet, such as playing guitar can be very helpful. In general, girls tend to focus their emotions inward, which can be a bad thing. Channeling their emotions would be a better way, but this needs to be encouraged, even if it is negative. Guitar playing can help with this process by getting a young girl to let out her feelings, but still have them be private.

Even in the solitude of her own space she can release these emotions in a creative way and express herself. Her guitar songs are hers alone, and she does not have to share them with anyone. However, parents can gain insight into what their daughter is going through that you may not normally hear about if they encourage her to perform, even if it is just for the family.

You need to keep a few things in mind when you make the decision to buy your daughter her first guitar, even a pin acoustic guitar. First, don't be cheap. Ignore anything you can find in the toy section of the local discount store. Inexpensive guitars are really very hard to play, even for experienced guitarists. The smartest thing you can do is visit your local music store or better yet, one that is dedicated to guitars.

There are several great guitars that hold a special visual allure for girls. Daisy Rock is a popular company that focuses on making guitars with girls in mind. They are not called The Girl Guitar Company for nothing. Daisy Rock carries everything from simple pink acoustic guitars to heart-shaped guitars and ones that come in the shapes of stars or butterflies.

Rather than making your little girl's first guitar a surprise gift, take her to the store with you when you shop for it. Each guitar is a little bit different so each pink acoustic guitar is not made in the same way. By allowing your daughter to choose her own guitar, she will get the one that feels best in her hands and the one that sounds just right to her and it will earn a special place in her heart.
