The Beauty Within

By Healthy Wealthy nWise

Akiane Kramarik's impressive resume includes paintings that sell for up to $1 million, guest appearances on Oprah, CNN, and Good Morning America, and two bestselling books, "Akiane: Her Life, Her Art, Her Poetry" and "My Dream Is Bigger Than I - Memories of Tomorrow", so most people are surprised to find out Akiane is a child.

Akiane has been drawing since age four, painting since age six, and writing poetry since age seven. She has been featured in the United States, Canada, Singapore and England, and she is a member of both the Kids' Hall of Fame and the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children.

How did a child get started on such a path? She says it came to her in visions. Her family wasn't religious when she was born. When she wasn't much older than a toddler, she began to see visions that she believed were from God. She didn't tell anyone about this at first, but she had to unleash all of this energy somehow, so she began making simple drawings of the things that filled her head.

Some people claim to see visions, but Akiane takes it one step further. She believes she actually lives them as if she's able to be in two places at once. She is conscious in both places. Akiane told her mother this was why she decided to paint "Eternity". The feeling of being in two places is so realistic that she calls it "shared self".

Akiane's inspiration comes from all around her. Touching an animal's fur, smelling a flower, seeing the world in a certain light, or even just imagining these things gives her the inspiration to paint or write. When she paints, she does so as if she's standing next to that animal or flower. The texture comes through her paintbrush because it's already in her head.

To tell someone to "stop and smell the roses" is, of course, clich, but it's exactly what Akiane Kramarik encourages people to do. She sees beauty everywhere and uses her talents to polish it for others to see in the same light, so she wants others to concentrate on doing the same. Anyone can learn to do this through their own talents whether it be art, writing, or music.

Each of Akiane's paintings has a unique meaning behind them. She had a reason for painting each one. For example, "Hand of Destiny" shows a left hand grasping its chosen destiny while the right is moving around helplessly. We have to choose our own destinies. "The Quantum World" is only a microscopic piece of the world she sees, including the different dimensions of her world.

To Akiane, even colors have meaning. White is truth, pink is trust, and black is suffering. Every paint stroke and every poetic word has deep meaning - meaning beyond what most have thought. Akiane encourages us to look beyond the obvious and see the true beauty around us.
