an artist is an individual... your art vision is your own!

By Michael Dale

What you paint marks you out as an independent thinker. Your drawings and paintings show your reactions to what you see and feel.

Still, there are Laws of Art you must obey as you get ready to paint your forthcoming masterpiece...

* Rules of line and form

* Perspective laws

When you are using color...

* You would refer to a color guidebook

* You need to consider light and shade

* The density of color needs to be thought about

An art beginner must learn basic art rules and laws. This is the only way to give you a reasonable chance of getting essential drawing and painting skills.

For an intermediate level artist the rules of drawing are a necessary guide to art achievement. The guides for color give reassurance that painting quality can be reliably achieved.

Painting and drawing is as natural as breathing to you as an experienced professional artist. The laws of art are fundamental to your artwork...

"A master painter's only worry is translating your vision onto canvas, panel or paper"

Does this mean a beginner should have nothing to do but worry about lack of painting skills?

Does this suggest that an intermediate level artist never loses touch with the knowledge of art mediocrity?

Art improvement is the only challenge for any artist...

* To produce higher quality drawings

* To create higher standard paintings

* To generate outstanding quality Art

If you are true to your art ideals you don't need a critic to approve your artwork. Your standards are already set high and you know when the standards aren't met. In your heart you know there is better to come...

"To adopt high art standards is the only true path to becoming an artist of quality"

When you have an Art vision of your own you don't need to copy other artists work. Have confidence in yourself and make your drawings and paintings speak for themselves...

"Let your artwork show the story you want to tell"
